Which product best describes you and why?
Reindeer leather bags and wallets are the closest to our philosophy. I really like the material, it is soft, durable and vegetal tanned. Also, a bag is everything you need to carry all the stories of your life.
How do your products add value for your customers compared to basic market products?
Each product is unique, your own, handmade and ethical produced. One of our principals is to use colors. We think that there’s enough black in this world.
How do you aim to produce long lasting products? What this requires for example from the product design?
In our case is everthing about the materials. Leather is a natural durable material and it also lasts long when treated and used right. I give advices to all of our retailers how to take care of the leather and jewelry. I also give tips about this in my blog.
What is the best feedback you have received from your products?
I think it have come from PETTERI card wallets. Customers love the simple design, that is really handy and soft material. We also get really good feedback from the jewerly when our customers tell that is the perfect jewelry to wear at work and make you feel more confident.
What product do you find superb that was made by someone other than you?
Crochet, I really love everything made with crochet.
What materials you prefer in production?
Natural materials, like leather and wood.
What makes your products environmentally friendly?
We use vegetal tanned leather because:
it shows off leather in it’s most natural state. Reindeer leather has scars and other marks of the animal life
it is the most environmentally friendly way to tan leather. Use of natural ingredients rather than chemicals.
it is an age old tradition, so tanneries have very skilled craftsmen producing and dyeing the leather.
It is unique and has its own life, it changes continuously, for the better developing a patina over time.
it can be recycled.
We use birch wood that grows in Finland.
We use local production to keep the process transparent and transportation minimal
Are you aware of where the part of your products (materials etc.) are made and by whom and in what circumstances?
Yes, we have close relation to our suppliers, the reindeer leather in coming from Lapland and tanned with traditional techniques, the cow leather is coming from the north of Spain and the bags are produced in a family company in Nokia. The jewelry pieces are cut in Laser Cut Studio in Helsinki and handmade in our studio.
How do you pack your products?
We use carton boxes for our jewelry. They are made in Denmark and can be reused. I usually recommend to keep the jewelry inside the box. Especially if you live by the sea it is an easy way to avoid the brass chain getting darker.
What alternatives you prefer for the product delivery?
We use normal transportation by land but I am trying to organize our production and deliveries with enough time so our products can move slow.
